Brexit advisor and registered expert on matters relating to international trade, Oakland Invicta’s Robert Hardy will be joining this year’s speaker line-up at Multimodal 2018 at the NEC from the 1st to 3rd May.

In the UK half of all food consumed comes from overseas, most of which from the European Union (EU), and as part of the Multimodal Brexit Session on Perishables Robert will share his industry knowledge as a registered expert with the EU Commission, as a Brexit advisor to the Institute for Government, InterTradeIreland, InvestNI and as a specialist Customs planner.

Stated Robert: “I question why so many companies are failing to prepare for Brexit, as it will affect us all either directly or indirectly, which is why it is imperative we plan to make Brexit work for us.

“Are they waiting for the politicians to confirm what the future looks like? My advice is act now as there are already processes in place which can lessen the effects and might even create post Brexit benefits.”

With platforms in the UK, Ireland and Spain, Robert is a director at Oakland Invicta, a specialist at reducing food losses due to contamination and a director of Oakland International, experts in multi temperature supply chain distribution and logistics.

Key delegate material Robert will share encompasses how to avoid port delays, what should be done to make the customs process integral to the order processing procedure and what you should be doing to prepare for Brexit, irrespective of the shape Brexit takes.

Added Robert: “If we embrace Brexit as an opportunity and examine the process and explore how additional elements can potentially run concurrently with little or no effect on the movement of goods, including to or from Ireland, it is possible to ensure customers experience at worst no change, and instead perceive a supply chain opportunity to improve, broaden and to further develop. You do have the opportunity to make Brexit work for you!”

International delegates at February’s launch event of Oakland’s dedicated Brexit Seminar series in Birmingham attracted food businesses and non-food importers, Embassies, logistics providers and consultants from the UK, Ireland, Belgium, Germany, France and Asia. Their next event is on Wednesday 27th June 2018. For details and to contact Robert for more information and to book please visit: www.mybrexit.uk
