What is a 3PL?

A 3PL or third-party logistics provider may form part of a supply chain. A 3PL will provide outsourced warehousing, picking, distribution and administrative services to their customers.

What transport does Oakland offer?

Oakland distributes customers’ goods throughout the UK, Ireland and Europe as well as offering an ad-hoc delivery service, only available to Oakland International customers. Oakland can distribute goods using chilled, frozen or ambient vehicles.

How does consolidation work?

Oakland’s consolidation scheme enables suppliers to share space on chilled pallets going to the same destination. A number of different suppliers and/or products may be picked onto the same pallet with the supplier charged a rate per case shipped as opposed to a pallet rate.

Does Oakland operate a sample service?

Oakland operates a chilled sample service for Oakland International customers only and distributes samples across the UK.

What is Oakland’s distressed load management service?

Oakland operates a specialist service to help companies who find themselves with a vehicle which has been compromised due to any of the following reasons:

  • Pallets shifting in transit
  • Temperature issues
  • Labelling errors
  • Clandestine infiltration

What happens to stock which has expired?

Oakland offers three options for expired stock:

  • Donation to charity or a local food bank is possible for some product types if the stock retains sufficient shelf life
  • Disposal to biomass, i.e. not landfill
  • Customer collection from Oakland’s facility

How do I book my vehicle in?

To book in a vehicle for delivery to Oakland please call: +44(0)1527 593 976. Obtain a reference number and quote this in subsequent paperwork and correspondence.

What are your opening hours for accepting vehicle bookings?

Oakland accepts vehicles on a first come, first served basis. Chilled hours are generally from 06.00-17:00, Frozen 07.30-16.30 Monday to Friday and Ambient 08.00-17.00 Monday to Friday.

Do you contract pack open foods?

Oakland do not operate the facility to contract pack open foods, currently we only deal with contract packing of closed foods.
