The Oakland Foundation have launched a new and innovative young people’s project called ‘The Oakland Programme’ as part of their ongoing Corporate Social Responsibility development and partnership with Ipsley CE RSA Academy.

The programme will run over a six-month period and will offer valuable workplace insights designed to enrich students’ academic experiences, with structured sessions aimed at raising aspirations and supporting future career choices.

Foundation Trustee, Peter Vaughan, commented: “The Oakland Programme will provide pupils with access to the world of work and add value to school based learning through first-hand workplace experience, as well as offering students the opportunity to explore the range of career choices available.”

Wearing a personalised hi-viz provided by the Foundation, the students will shadow members of the Charity’s key sponsor Oakland International’s team as they undertake daily routines. Beginning on Friday 22nd January, in their first week the students have been be given a guided tour of Oakland’s facilities, shadowed staff and taken part in educational sessions.

Ipsley CE RSA Academy Principal, Nicola Beech, commented: “Helping children to prepare for the world of work is an important part of education. Through The Oakland Programme we are able to help pupils start thinking about the skills and qualities needed for employment from Year 7.

“The pupils involved are all looking forward to participating in this exciting opportunity which is only possible thanks to the continued support of the Oakland Foundation and Oakland employees.”
